1.Education for a Happy Childhood

The Art of Caring for Young Children

This is an introductory course of ten, Saturday mornings, once a month in Bath. It aims to answer the many questions concerning caring for and working with children today whilst providing insights into the underlying principles of Steiner early years care and education.

Main topics - Child development; Creative Play; Rhythm; Repetition & Reverence; Seasonal Festivals; Story Telling; Mealtimes; The 12 Senses; Creative Discipline; Music, Language & Gesture; Present Day.

Seasonal Songs, Stories, Puppetry, Arts & Crafts. Home-made refreshments are included.

2.Challenges of Childhood

A New Approach to Complex Issues

This is a series of four Saturday mornings in Bath, concentrating on areas of common difficulty and conflict when bringing up and working with young children. These workshops are based on an anthroposophical understanding of childhood which considers the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of trauma and misunderstanding.

Main topics - The Four Temperaments; Sleep; Bullying; Sex and Sexuality

Seasonal Songs, Stories, Puppetry, Arts & Crafts. Home-made refreshments are included.


Joy de Berker is an experienced Steiner Kindergarten teacher, mother, grandmother and course leader with over 20 years experience. She has committed much of her working life to help and support parents and early years teachers in their care of children.
